  The Most Rev. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, received an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree from The University of the West Indies (UWI) in Kingston, Jamaica on July 20 in recognition for his role in speaking out publicly for the Anglican church to face up to its past role in the transatlantic slave trade.   The General Synod of the Church of England made an appeal to the new government, focusing on an issue that garnered unanimous support across the chamber. Inspired by the personal experience of Christine from Wigan, the Synod passed a comprehensive motion urging "His Majesty's Government and healthcare providers to ensure that mothers whose unborn child may be disabled in any way are given comprehensive and unbiased information about the condition and support available to them."

  Azerbaijan is guilty of “cultural genocide” for destroying Christian sites in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and falsely claiming that Armenian religious presence there never existed, according to a report by a legal advocacy group.

  Churches of England & Wales push for LGBT-welcoming environment in church schools in draft guidance

  The ‘National Society for Education Church of England (4,630 schools) & Church in Wales’ (200 schools) published a draft guidance to stop school bullying and in its 59-page consultation document promotes LGBT+ rights amongst children, regardless of theological objections. The draft has been published at the same time as church leaders from 1,300 churches of differing denominations wrote to the new prime minister Sir Keir Starmer voicing angst about plans to stop conversion therapy.
